

Mr. Goldberg holds a Bachelor's Degree from Yale University and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. Mr. Goldberg first joined Skadden, Arps in 1986, following two years as Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Goldberg served as the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, and during 1992, he served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Tax Policy. He returned to Skadden, Arps in late 1992.
Mr. Goldberg's practice focuses on advising a wide range of clients, including individuals, businesses, financial institutions and not-for-profit organizations, on various tax administration, controversy and legislative matters.
Mr. Goldberg was a member of the National Commission on Restructuring the IRS, a Member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies National Commission on Retirement Policy, and Executive Director of the Bi-Partisan Congressional Commission on Entitlement and Tax Reform. He has served on the Boards of several non-profit organizations promoting asset-based policies for low income individuals, families and communities, including the Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED), Doorways-to-Dreams (D2D), and Wall Street Without Walls.
